Abbie Jane Mercer Barrett, age 82, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (June 03, 2025) at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on January 14, 1943 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Hubert and Eva Higdon Mercer.

She was a nurse's aide who enjoyed sewing, gardening, keeping a clean house, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Williams (L.) of Platka, FL; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, a brother, Johnny Mercer; and a sister, Mary Frances Brooks. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Barrett; two children, Dwayne Stone and Cheryl Newton; one sister, Connie Stevenson and two  brothers, Roy & Danny Mercer.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, (June 09, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
