Adlee Dowell VanMeter, age 92, of Leitchfield, KY, went to her forever home on Thursday, (August 17, 2017) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born on June 17, 1925, in Leitchfield, KY, the daughter of the late William and Catherine Farris Dowell and Stroud VanMeter.
She was a housewife and homemaker, who enjoyed crocheting hats and baby blankets, gardening, cooking, fishing, visiting her children and traveling; she was an Avon representative for 25 years and was a member of McGrew General Baptist Church for 35 years.
She is survived by four daughters, Debbie Clemons of Pearland, TX, Rachel Terry (Glenn) and Melanie Manion (Brian) both of Clarkson, KY and Miranda Troublefield of Leitchfield, three sons, McCoy VanMeter of Leitchfield, Jeffrey VanMeter (Mary Faye) of Clarkson, and Marion VanMeter of Anneta KY, 31 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Beatrice VanMeter survives.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie VanMeter, five children, Larry (Pauline), Carry Thomas, William Nathan and McClee VanMeter and Catherine (Jim) Nowlin, a sister, Hope Peters, a brother, Henry Carroll, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, (August 20, 2017) at the McGrew General Baptist Church. Bros. Earl Day and J H Manion will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrew Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and at the McGrew General Baptist Church after 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services on Sunday.
