Rev. Alton "Mac" Brooks, age 74, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Tuesday, (December 27, 2011) at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, IN.

He was born on May 19, 1937 in Edmonson Co., KY, the son of the late Esel and Pernie Bell Gipson Brooks. He was a Missionary Baptist Minister and a retired Plumber.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Gay Brooks, three daughters, Mary Alice Meredith (Anthony), and Sudie Hack (Robert) of Caneyville, Connie Lou Leonard (Richard) of Louisville, and one son, Joey Brooks of Leitchfield, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several uncles and aunts also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Lou Brooks, a half brother, Larry Grimes and a half sister Christine Beshaw.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday (December 30, 2011) at the Gospel Light Missionary Baptist Church in Caneyville. Bro. Forman Peters, Bro. Gary Sanders and Bro. Philip Sallee will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 Thursday night by the Short Creek Masonic Lodge.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
