Alvena Purcell, age 92, of, Caneyville, KY, passed away Sunday, (July 15, 2018) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on March 30, 1926 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late J. L. Duggins Sr. and Eunice Ferry Duggins.

She was a homemaker, who was a member of the Short Creek Homemakers club for over 70 years and attended the Falls of Rough Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis Stratton of Shelbyville, KY, Teresa Buckles (Dennis) of Caneyville, KY, Cathy Anderson (Barry) of Caneyville, KY, Peggy Davis (Billy) of Leitchfield and Tim Purcell (Carla) of Short Creek; grandchildren, Leigh & Jennifer Farris, Kendra Cloyd, Kara Stratton, Mark & Marita Buckles, Martha Hayes, Hannah Anderson, Logan Davis, Teryl Carter, and Macy & Andy Purcell; great-grandchildren, Taylor Buckles, Jourdan Farris, Chance, Colin & Sam Cloyd, Reese Hayes, Jake & Luke Carter and Anna Davis; and brother, Sherwood Duggins of Boyd, TX.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm D. Purcell and siblings, Marion Hudgins, J.L. Duggins Jr., Betty Burkhead and Harold Clinton Duggins.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (July 23, 2018) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Sherwood Duggins and Bro. Stephen Duggins will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 22, 2018) and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
