Obituary
Arlene Ruth Simpson, age 84, of Calvert City, KY, passed away Saturday, (March 3, 2012) at the Calvert City Convalescent Center.
She was born on July 30, 1927, in Dickinson, New York, the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Teresa Anna Mae Clark Snyder. She was a retired Registered Surgical Nurse. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion, and D.A.V. She was a foster grandparent for several years, and a member of the Little Clifty Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, James Sherman Simpson (Brenda) of Benton, KY and Tommy Joseph Simpson (Ruth E.) of Johnson City, TN; two daughters, Ruth Ann Constant and Janette Marie Merideth (Mark T.) both of Leitchfield; one brother, Russell Patrick Snyder of Florida; six grandchildren, Cody Reese Simpson, Stephanie Escoe, Britney Merideth, Janelle Hubbard, Christy Merideth, and Crystal Lush; and nine great-grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Fredric Sherman Simpson; two sisters, Mildred Kathleen Lawrence, and Edna Mae Snyder; and two grandchildren, Patric Constant, and James Sherman Simpson, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (March 6, 2012) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Gerry Otahal will be officiating. Burial will be in the Little Clifty Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield after 10:00a.m. on Tuesday until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dermitt Funeral Home to help with expenses.
