Barbara Ann Cook Douthitt, age 78, of Mt. Hebron, KY, passed away Sunday, (May 31, 2026) at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.
She was born on October 21, 1947 in Hardin County, KY, the daughter of the late Earl Howard and Mary Kathryn Johnson Cook.
She was a homemaker and a housewife who enjoyed flower gardening, feeding her hummingbirds, shopping, and canning. She was a faithful member of Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission for 54 years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bro. Jimmy Douthitt of Mt. Hebron; a son, Richard “Wichita” Douthitt of Tar Hill; a daughter, Latisha Spalding (Damon) of Mt. Hebron; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Douthitt (Jacob Lyon), Emily Wright (Brinden), Ryan Spalding, Anna Spalding & Isabella Spalding; one great-grandchild on the way; and a sister, Alicia Clark of Glendale. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, William & Rusty Cook; and one sister, Linda Tharpe.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. (CST) Thursday, (June 04, 2026) at Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church in Mt. Hebron, KY. Bros. Chris Urbano, Edward Dennis, & Arthur Bagby will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday and will move to Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. (CST) until time of services.
