Bessie Cockriel, age 100, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (May 12, 2007) at the Springview Health and Rehab Center in Leitchfield.

She was born on June 12, 1906, in Grayson County, the daughter of Frank and Sarah Whobrey Hayes. She was a member of the New Freedom Church.

She is survived by, four daughters, Kathern Hazelwood and Shirley Milliner both of Louisville, Donia Coots of Shelbyville, IN and Frankie Meredith of Leitchfield, two sons, Bro. Edward Cockriel and Thomas Cockriel both of Leitchfield, 24 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 59 great-great grandchildren and several great great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Cockriel and one daughter, Lizzie Mae Brooks.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 15, 2007) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Denvard Decker and Bro. Neil Carnes will be officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
