Betsy Cariel, age 80, of Leitchfield, KY, formerly of Versailles, KY passed away Thursday (November 22, 2007) at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.

She was born March 23, 1927, in Scott County KY, the daughter of Bill and Louella Thomason Alsop. She was a line worker at Texas Instruments and a member of the Versailles Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "Jiggs" Cariel and her sister Virginia Riddel.

She is survived by her sons John (Saundra) Cariel of Leitchfield, Richard (Donna) Cariel of Lexington and her daughter, Janet (Chuck) Dillon of Tennessee. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Talia Cariel, Bryce Cariel, Kevin Dillon, Matthew Fister and Brian Fister and her great- grandchildren: Mason Cariel and Cole Fister.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time Monday, (November 26, 2007) at the Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in Versailles, KY with Rev. Lee Schroerlucke officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Garden.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Central Time Saturday; at the Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in Versailles from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Eastern Time Sunday; and from 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time until the time of service Monday at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.
