Betty Jane Kappel, age 86, of Millwood, KY, passed away Wednesday, (January 01, 2025) at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on September 15, 1938 in Breckinridge County, KY, the daughter of the late John and Ersie Smith Burden.

She was a line worker at General Electric until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, shopping, watching movies and loved her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura "Jeannie" Jacobs of Louisville; her step-children Mark, Angela, & Kim Kappel; three grandchildren, LaTosha Jacobs, Whittney Jacobs, & Lindsey Jacobs; nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Zainab, Jannah, Hassan, Dalton, Dallas, Elizabeth, Olivia & Sophia; a brother, Jimmy Burden of Millwood, and a sister, Beatrice Duke of Hardinsburg. Several nieces and nephews, including Connie Oakes (Joe) and Kelsie Poteet (Jacob) also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Kappel; and four brothers, Clifton, Robert, Joe & Donnie Burden.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. CST Friday, (January 10, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. David Nottingham will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hudson Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (CST) on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. (CST) Friday until time of services.
