Betty (Elizabeth Louise) Martin, age 70, went to be with the Lord Friday, (November 23, 2007). She passed away at her home in Leitchfield, KY.
Betty was the cherished wife of Roy Martin for 50 years. She is missed by her five children, Teresa Martin Seelhorst of Louisville, Curtis Martin of Leitchfield, Mary Martin Hargrove of Istanbul, Turkey, David Martin of Lexington, and Ruby Martin Smith of Nashville, her 15 grandchildren, and her 4 siblings, Mary Ellen Little of Pheonixville, PA, Charles Terry of Irvine, KY, Christine Wright of Richmond, KY, and Jim Terry of Lawrenceburg, KY.
She was born in Jackson, KY on November 14, 1937 to Elmer and Omeda Terry. She was a songbird in the Leitchfield United Methodist Church choir since moving to Leitchfield in 1966. She taught piano lessons for 15 years and was the church pianist for the Methodist churches in Big Clifty and in Leitchfield. Betty's life of loving the Lord included devotion to her husband and family and an open door to her home for the brokenhearted. Her epitaph reads "She loves the Lord, her heavenly Father."
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (November 29, 2007) at the Leitchfield United Methodist Church, with doors opening at 12 p.m. for family and friends.
There will be a graveside servce at the Gray Cemetery in Estill Co., KY on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. eastern time.
