Betty Jean Saltsman, age 84, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (September 28, 2023) at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on September 1, 1939 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Oscar Sr. and Nelma Rea Newton Decker.

She was a housewife who enjoyed crocheting and sewing and was a member of the Claggett United Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband James Ray Saltsman. They were married on March 28, 1959. Also surviving are her three sons, Ricky (Danna), Jeff (Shirley) and Kenny Saltman (Teresa) all of Leitchfield, four grandchildren, Makaila Saltsman, Cordell Saltsman, Penny Kennison and Sherry Petty, two great grandchildren Garrett Petty and Jacob Kennison, one brother, Robert Decker (Susie), five sisters, Faye Sego, Ina Green (James), Jocie Chambers (Ernie), Diane Ward (Randy) and Charlene Downs (Barry); two sisters-in-law, Jennie Decker and Melissa Decker; and two brothers-in-law, Harlan McGrew & Elroy Cook. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Oscar Jr. Orin, Gilbert, Timmy, Harold and Ronnie Decker and two sisters, Elaine Cook and Mary McGrew.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, (October 4, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Cecil Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
