Billie Ray Duncan, age 85, of Elsmere, KY, formerly of Horse Branch, KY, passed away Tuesday, (December 13, 2023) in Covington, KY.
He was born on May 12, 1938 in Horse Branch, KY, the son of the late Thomas and Lettie Stewart Duncan.
He was a heavy equipment operator at the rock quarry working as a rock crusher. He married his wife, Shirley Young Duncan on June 30, 1958. He enjoyed reading, collecting rocks and arrow heads, gardening, anything outdoors, and eating his sweets. He was a gentle, sweet man who loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Deacon at Free Zion General Baptist Church, and a former member there for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Young Duncan; his son-in-law, Tim (Sandra) Cook; three grandchildren, Shaun (Adriane) Cook, Shannon Alexander (Kyle Gibson), and Brittanie (Jake) Apke; and seven great- grandchildren, Kylie, Keenan, Aria, Brooklyn, Aiyla, Gracelyn, and Jonah.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Duncan Cook; and seven siblings, including his twin sister, Lillie Faye.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, (December 19, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Carl Decker, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hack-Oller Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. (CST) on Tuesday until time of services.
