Billy Downs, age 81, of Blowtown, KY, passed away Saturday, (October 21, 2023) at Signature Healthcare in Radcliff, KY.

He was born on June 28, 1942 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Stoy and Dollie Scott Downs.

He had earlier worked in construction for Hughes Lumber, and had driven a cement truck for Lowe's Concrete. In the early 1970's he purchased his own dump truck and began Downs Trucking, as a driver and owner/operator. His fleet grew into a prosperous business.  He was a farmer, and always a hard worker, putting in all the hours he could. He loved his pet cats. He is survived by his beloved cat, Tiger.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews; several cousins; his life-long friends, Jimmy Saltsman, Harry Carwile and Junior Nash; and a huge host of other friends.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elroy Downs and Percy Ray Downs, Sr.; and one sister, Roberta Stevenson.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, (October 26, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Charlie Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrew Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
