Bro. Arvel Oscar Lasley, age 88, of Louisville, KY, passed away Friday, (September 6, 2013) in Louisville.
He was born on May 27, 1925 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Lummie and Dollie McClure Lasley.
He was a minister, former farmer, truck driver, and building maintenance worker. He enjoyed attending church, singing, fishing, old cars, and his grandchildren. He was a member of the West End Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Robertson Lasley of Louisville; two sons, Geary and wife Ann of LaGrange, and Tim and wife Donna of Louisville; six grandchildren, Angela Avis Parker and husband Bobby of Louisville, Michell Lasley Adams and husband Rick of Plymouth IN, Steven Lasley of Louisville, Geary Wayne Lasley of LaGrange, Justin and Tyler Avis; three brothers, Everett and James Lasley of Leitchfield, and Percy Lasley of Louisville; one sister, Louise Lasley of New York; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Deloris Stephans, and Brenda Gail Downs; one brother, Kenny Lasley; two sisters, Wilma and Thelma Lasley.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (September 10, 2013) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Sis. Sharon Prather will be officiating. Burial will be in the Scott Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until time of services.
