Obituary

Bro. Howard Wayne Decker, age 60 of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (January 14, 2015) in Caneyville, KY.

He was born on August 14, 1954 in Caneyville, KY, the son of the late George Robert and Lorene Mudd Decker.

He was a retired diesel mechanic for P & L Railroad, a United Baptist Minister for 32 years, where he was the current pastor of the Chalybeate United Baptist Church in Chalybeate, KY and the Fairdale United Baptist Church in Louisville, KY; He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting and fishing and farming; He was a member of the Grayson County Cattleman's Association and was a member of the Claggett United Baptist Church.

Bro. Howard is survived by his wife, Susan Hayes Decker, two sons, Adam Decker of Caneyville and Johnathan Decker and his wife, Katie of Bowling Green KY, three grandchildren, Jaxen, Annleigh and Livi Kate Decker, two sisters, Beulah Hayes (Mark) Leitchfield, and Diane Tomes (John) of Caneyville.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Wesley Robert Decker and a brother, Herman Decker.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, (January 18, 2015) at the Claggett United Baptist Church. Bros. Jerry Weedman, Garry Watkins, James Jesse and Richard Minton will be officiating. Committal service will be in the Pleasant Union United Baptist (Wilson) Church and Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and at the Claggett United Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Pleasant Union (Wilson) Cemetery.
