Bueford Stapleton, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Sunday, (January 4, 2015) at his residence in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on April 23, 1933 in Morgan County, KY, the son of the late Samuel Norman and Eulah Lemaster Stapleton.
He was a sales representative for Houchens meat department, a member of Leitchfield Masonic Lodge #236, and a member of Gideon's International. He has been a member of the Leitchfield Fire Department since 1972, and became Emeritus Status with the fire department in July 2014. He was also a member of the KY Federation of Fire Chaplains. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Bueford was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Leitchfield.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Pharris Stapleton; son, Steve and his wife, Brenda Stapleton; daughter, Angie and her husband, Keith Jones, all of Leitchfield; three grandchildren, Ian Renfrow (Lindsay), Stephen Renfrow, and Shannon Nicole Campbell (Shaun); three great-grandchildren, Isabel Nicole Blanton, Emmett Douglas Campbell, and Jackson Watson; two step-grandchildren, Leslie Jones, and Kristy Jones; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hope Jackson of Leitchfield, Jonell Bunell of Decatur, Al; and brother, Dorsey Stapleton of Elizabethtown, KY.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (January 8, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. David Clark, Bro. Rudd Kerr, and Bro. Brian Matthews will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens cemetery.
Masonic services will be Wednesday night at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
