Obituary

Carl Gene King, age 77 , of Caneyville, KY, passed away on Saturday, December, 10, 2022.  He was born on February 22, 1945 in Caneyville, the son of the late Robert and Bertie King.

Carl had three loves:  God, family, and work. He was a member of the Caneyville Christian Church, where he attended for seventy-two years.  During those years, he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder.  He also served on the boards of White Mills Christian Camp and His House Christian Student Fellowship at WKU.  He was a loyal employee of Majors Transit for fifty-nine years as a billing clerk and truck dispatcher. He considered his co-workers family.

Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorena King; three daughters, Carla Purcell (Tim), Angela Young (Randall), and Sarah White (Chad); five grand-children, Macy Purcell (Jessika), Audrey Clayton (Kaleb), Andy Purcell (Tori), Landon Young (Haleigh) and Carson White; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Clayton, and James Wyatt Young. He is also survived by one brother, Roy King (Teresa) and one sister, Pauline Edwards (Charles).

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.  Services will be led by his grandsons, Macy and Andy Purcell, Landon Young, and Carson White.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, from 5:00-8:00 pm and from 9:00 am Tuesday until time of service. Burial will be at the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Caneyville Christian Church or Hosparus of Kentucky.
