Carl Howard Smith, age 82, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (September 18, 2020) at his home.

He was born on December 14, 1937 in Glasgow, Kentucky the son of the late A. Carlton and M. Ruby Jessee Smith.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired from the shipping department of Campbell Hausfeld and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club since 1963 and a member of the Leitchfield First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances Bacon Smith of Leitchfield; two daughters, Jennifer Rene Beach (Tony) of Bassett, VA and Susan McCloud (Sam) of Caneyville, KY; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Smith and a sister Barbara Rapp.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, (September 23, 2020) at Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Doug King will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.
