Carl Shelton Stewart Jr., age 78, of Millwood, passed away Monday, (June 22, 2026).
He was born on November 4, 1947, in Millwood, KY, the son of the late Carl Shelton Stewart Sr. and Aileen Woosley Stewart.
He was saved in 1956 at the age of nine at the 18th Street United Baptist Church in Louisville. A devoted servant of the Lord, he was ordained as a deacon at Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church on May 8, 1988, and he lived his life for the Lord and was known for his deep knowledge of the Bible and the prayers he laid up for others.
He retired as a truck driver after many years of dedicated work. He enjoyed collecting pocket knives and treasured the simple pleasures of life, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He dearly loved his girls and thought the world of his sons-in-law. On November 19, 1964, he married the love of his life and together they shared a blessed marriage for many years. He was also a proud member of the NRA.
His favorite hymn was, “In the Garden,” which beautifully reflected his close walk with the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lola Priddy Stewart of Millwood; two daughters, Laura Stewart Bell (Craig) of Hodgenville and Amanda Green (Darren) of Scottsville; siblings, Linda Green (Roy) of Millwood, Ronnie Stewart of Millwood, Donnie Stewart (Faye) of Caneyville, and Cathie Dennis of Millwood. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (June 27, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jerry Weedman, Bro. Cecil Williams and Bro. Gary Woosley will be officiating. Burial will be in the Si Hughes Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
