Carlos Eugene Mudd, age 80, of Big Clifty, KY, passed away Friday, (October 3, 2025) at his home.

He was born on March 16, 1945, in Caneyville, KY, the son of the late Garland H. and Lue Ella Sanders Mudd.

Carlos worked at Dow Corning in Elizabethtown and retired after 36 years of employment. He was a member of the Butler County Beagle Club, and Grayson County Cattleman's Association. He graduated from Caneyville High School, where he played basketball on the varsity team. Carlos was a strong and loving husband to his wife of 55 years, Billie Bradley Mudd, whom he married on March 20, 1970.  He loved his children very much. He was the biggest cheerleader of his three grandkids. To others, Carlos was a friend, co-worker, and cousin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and running rabbit dogs with his grandson, Deavin. He also coached softball. Carlos was a true blue KY basketball fan until Coach Rick Pitino left the school. He was a long-time member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church (Old Wilson).

He is survived by his wife, Billie Mudd of Big Clifty; two children, Jodie Hester (Jeffrey) of Leitchfield, and Bryan Mudd (Sabrina Hughes) of Big Clifty; three grandchildren, Deavin Hester (Hannah Schuler) of Texas, Brylee Hester (Luke Decker) of Leitchfield, and Elli Hester of Alabama; brother, Donald Mudd (Martha); Aunt, Laura V Mudd; former sister-in-law, Nowanda Mudd; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Laverne and nephew, Christopher Nash.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (October 11, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jerry Weedman will be officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Big Clifty.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
