Carol Rose Downs, age 82 , of Caneyville, KY, passed away Monday, (May 2, 2022) at her residence.

She was born on November 29, 1939 in Jefferson County, KY, the daughter of the late John Henry and Frances Mary Ruhe Young.

She retired from Old Fitzgerald Distillery in Louisville after 25 years of employment. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and playing computer games, especially "FarmTown". She loved going to the races and watching NASCAR. Her favorite show on television was NCIS.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which she doted on. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Sunfish.

She is survived by her children, Laura Downs Tomes of Leitchfield, Kimberly Brewer (Jerry) of Leitchfield, and Brian Downs (Karen) of Caneyville; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Young of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Downs, son, David Downs and his wife, Shawn, and her sister, Jean Wilke.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (May 5, 2022) at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Sunfish. Father Tony Bickett will be officiating. Burial will be in the Downs Farm Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
