Carolyn T. Newton, age 79, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Sunday, (January 23, 2022) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 18, 1942 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Zary "Zook" and Alta Ward Haycraft.

She retired as the Custodian for the Grayson County Courthouse and enjoyed cooking, cleaning, shopping, going to the spa and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the South Union Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Greg Newton of Leitchfield; three daughters, Valerie Meredith (William) of Leitchfield, Kimberly Newton of Bowling Green, KY, and Chandra Glenn of Glendale, KY; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and two brothers, Charles Haycraft of Louisville, KY & Gary Haycraft (Linda) of Lexington, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Newton; a grandson, Jeremy Minton; two sisters, Alene Armstrong & Shirlene Stevenson and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, (January 27, 2022) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Donald Webb will be officiating. Burial will be in the South Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
