Chad Eric Pence, age 46, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (June 15, 2023) in Las Vegas Nevada.

He was born on February 19, 1977 in Grayson County, KY, the son of Mary
Jo Burkhead and his late father, Eddie Pence.

Chad's world was his music. He graduated from Grayson County High School in 1995 and from University of Kentucky in 2000, with a Bachelor in music education. He was the former Brass Caption Head at Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, former Director of Bands at Ashley Ridge High School, former Associate Band Director of Bands at Fort Mill High School, former teacher at Boston Crusaders, former Brass Caption Head at Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, former Brass Instructor at Cadets, former Interim Assistant Band Director at James F. Byrnes High School, former Band Director at Lost Mountain Middle School, and was presently Assistant Band Director at Grayson County School System.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Jo Burkhead; brother, Scott Davis (Jessica) and their children, John Scott and Hanley Davis; his 2nd mother, Jean Pence, who was a loving great influence on Chad's life, in continuing his education and his career; beloved siblings, Ryan Davis, Jill Davis Minton, Trinitii Puente, Arleta Watkins and Briscoe Davis; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his numerous music family nationwide and abroad.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Pence; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Lois Burkhead; and paternal grandparents, Richard and Lula Pence.

A Celebration of Chad's life will be held on Monday (July 3, 2023) at 4:00 p.m. at Dermitt Funeral Home. Klayton Felty, a music friend from Owensboro will be doing the Eulogy.

Visitation will be held on Monday (July 3, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. and after the Celebration of Life Service until 8:00 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Grayson County Band.
