Charles Wesley Brown, age 73, of Houston Texas, formally of Leitchfield, passed away Thursday, (March 5, 2009) at Christus St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay Texas.
He was born on November 28, 1935, in Nebraska, the son of Thomas Charles and Mary Elizabeth (French) Brown. He was later raised by Mary Elizabeth and Raymond Nichols. He was a Baptist by faith. He was retired from Leitchfield Transfer. He served fifteen years in the Air Force, serving as Chaplain; and twenty-eight years in the Army National Guard. He served in the Korean, Viet Nam, and the Gulf Wars. He was a member of the American Legion in Oklahoma, and was a former Arthur Murray Dance Instructor.
He is survived by three sons; Charles Wesley, Jr. and Randall Stephen Brown both of Leitchfield, and Christopher Lee Brown, four daughters; Karan Brown of England, Susan DeLoria VanHoozer-Brown (Joe) of Texas, Kimberly Anne Crawford (Jeff) of Big Clifty, Marian Amber Saltsman (Stanley) of Blowtown, and eighteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, one brother Nicholas Brown and one sister Jo Donovan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. (March 11, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Arnold Saltsman and Bro. Nathan Lowe will be officiating. Burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
