Coach Charles Wandle Haak, age 67, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Sunday, (December 24, 2006) at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.
He was born on October 2, 1939, in Madison, IN, the son of Charles Haak Sr., and Ethel Mason Haak. He was a member of the Clarkson Baptist Church. His coaching career included basketball, football, track, cross country, and softball for the Grayson County school system. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at Hanover College in Indiana. While attending the University of Tampa, Florida, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. At Western Kentucky University he earned a Master of Arts degree in education. He was also an assistant men's basketball coach at Murray State University.
He is survived by one son, Charles Haak of Silver Spring, MD., one daughter, Meredith Haak of Leitchfield, KY., two brothers, George Haak and Harry Haak both of Fl., one sister, Dottie Rewis of Fl., two grandchildren, Kendra and Bailey Cannon of Leitchfield, KY.
The family will receive friends after the cremation of Charles W. Haak Thursday (December 28, 2006) from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. C.S.T. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. Friday (December 29, 2006) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.
