Charles Edward Mercer, age 91, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (June 04, 2026) at his home.

He was born on April 07, 1935 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Delmer and Sylvia Givans Mercer.

He was a retired farmer and cabinet maker who enjoyed working on the farm and riding around in his red “Dodge Country Truck”. Charles was a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ellen Moutardier Mercer of Leitchfield; a daughter, Deborah Bush of Leitchfield; three grandchildren, Julia (Bobby), Leslie (Tony) & Brian; many great and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Herman Mercer (Regina) of Leitchfield; and a sister, Sharon Alvey of Elizabethtown, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Probus; two brothers, Bud & Sherman Mercer; and a sister, Juanita Kiper.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (June 09, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Eveleigh Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
