Charles E. Rigdon, age 90, of Eastview, KY, passed away Monday, (November 24, 2025) at his home with his girls by his side.
He was born on February 3, 1935 in Edmonson County, KY, the son of the late Almon and Laura Sanders Rigdon.
He was the former owner and an operator of Rigdon's Grocery and formerly worked at Kitchen Kompact in Jeffersonville, IN. He loved all things outdoors – whether he was ginseng hunting, deer hunting, or simply enjoying the quiet of the woods. He had a talent for fixing just about anything and took pride in lending a hand whenever he could. Above all, he cherished being a papaw, and his family was truly the center of his world. He was a member of the Greenwood United Baptist Church and the Meeting Creek Masonic Lodge #641.
He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie Winningham (Eric Love) of Clarkson and Tammy Claggett (Charlie) of Eastview; three grandchildren, DeDe Kirk of Eastview, Skylar Stuart (Katie) of Elizabethtown, KY, and Suzie Claggett (Niche Anaya) of Eastview; five great-grandchildren, Dray Grady (Melisa), Legend & Zeplyn Kirk, and Azalea & Zinnia Stuart; two brothers, James Elvin Rigdon (Margaret) and Johnny Rigdon (Carolyn); and one sister, Jean Pippin Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Pepper Rigdon; and his siblings, Garland Rigdon, Nealie Pippin, Hazel Pippin, Willie Rigdon and June Rigdon.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. CST Monday, (December 1, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Danny Pippin will be officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
