Charles Moses Templeman, age 94 of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (January 22, 2015) at the Bee Hive Assisted Living in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on March 12, 1920 in the Hopewell Community in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Asa (Hobert) and Goldie Duncan Templeman.
He was a 1939 graduate of Caneyville High School, a World War II Army-Air Force veteran; he owned and operated Templeman Motors over 30 years from 1948 to 1979; he enjoyed serving others through the Shriners, Masons, and many other community programs; he loved and enjoyed his family and many friends and was a lifelong lover of gospel music; he was a lifetime member of the Leitchfield Lodge F & AM # 236 (68 years) and an honorary member of the Wilhelm Lodge F & AM # 720 in Clarkson KY; a member and former Chaplain of the American Legion Post 81; a charter member of the Grayson County Lion's Club for 62 years; a 32nd degree mason of the Valley of Louisville Scottish Rite, member of the Leitchfield Shrine Club and Kosair Shrine Temple, Louisville, for 46 years; a member of the Woodmen of World over 68 years, a member of the Leitchfield Fire Department and former Fire Chief (1959-60); founding member and stockholder of Grayson County Fair Board over 60 years; original board member of Albany Cheese, now Bel Cheese, and a member of the Leitchfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his son, Steven G. Templeman (Marie); two grandchildren, Jennifer Patterson Manley (Marc) of Lexington, KY, and Charles Michael Templeman (Megan) of Clarkson, five great grandchildren, Emma Grace, Owen David and Eli Samuel Manley and Evan Moses and Charles Mason Templeman.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Frances and his brother, Leroy Templeman.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. CST Saturday, (January 24, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Jim Butler will be officiating. Entombment will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services. Masonic services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
