Charlie VanMeter, age 63, of Leitchfield, KY passed away on Monday, (June 5, 2017) at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY after a long battle with pneumonia.
Charlie was born November 27, 1953 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Edward VanMeter and Eula Mae Dennison VanMeter. He was a retired auto body mechanic, who enjoyed spending time outdoors and working with his hands.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Trunetta VanMeter of Leitchfield; a son Charles "Coon" VanMeter of Leitchfield; three daughters, Crystal Baker (Chris Hayes) of Leitchfield, Christine "Worm" Meredith (Josh) and Daisy "Fred" Clemons (Tommy) both of Clarkson; fifteen grandchildren, Corey VanMeter, Katelynn VanMeter, Dakota Stone, McKenzie Farris, Ashlee McStoots (Todd), Jacob Baker, Jared Clemons, Hannah Baker, Austin Meredith, Mike Meredith, Lane Clemons, Logan VanMeter, Lindsey Baker, Madison VanMeter and Hunter Hayes; one step grandson, Jacob Hayes; three sisters, Ruth Decker (Shelby) of Leitchfield, Theresa Puckett (Kevin) and Mary VanMeter both of Big Clifty; one brother, James VanMeter (Garnetta) of Clarkson; two uncles, Joe VanMeter and Carl VanMeter both of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Raymond Taylor, David VanMeter and Andy VanMeter.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday (June 8, 2017) at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Curtis Decker will be officiating. Burial will be at the VanMeter Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
