Charlotte Louise Southern, age 69, of Garfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (January 4, 2024) at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

She was born on May 2, 1954 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Ray and Helen Renfrow Duke.

She worked as a private duty nurse. Charlotte enjoyed watching U of L basketball, gospel music, singing, and attending church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She married her husband, Dallas Southern on June 3, 2000. She attended Hudson Community Church.

She survived by her husband, Dallas Southern of Garfield; children, William Southern III (Lorinda) and Stephanie Rhodes ( Joseph); grandchildren, Shyann Thompson, Dean Southern, Madelyn Thompson, James Rhodes, Jr. and Winona Epperson; foster brother, Bruce Anderson; one nephew, Paul and three nieces, Heather, Joyce, and Roxann.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Duke and her sister, Dianne Kelmel.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (January 10, 2024) at the Hudson Community Church.  Bro. Jim McIntosh will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrady Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Hudson Community Church on Tuesday (January 9, 2024) beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at the church from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday (January 10, 2024) until time of service.
