Cheryl Sue Kinkade Lucas (Susie Lucas), 69, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Born on February 22, 1957, in Leitchfield, Kentucky, Susie was the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Rea Childress Kinkade.

Susie graduated from the first class at Grayson County High School in 1975 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University in 1979. She worked for many years as a nurse before changing career paths and joining Kinkade-Cornell Insurance Agency in Leitchfield as an insurance agent, where she retired in 2021. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crossword puzzles and flower gardening, and was a devoted member of Leitchfield First Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, David Lucas; their daughters, Michele (Eric) Carter, Shanna Stephens, and April (AJ) Smith; her grandchildren, Gideon and Jacob (Lindsey) Underwood, Danielle, Krystal, Corey, and Natalie Carter, Kristian Lucas, Marc-Alan Jackson, Walker Stephens, and Carver and Emerson Smith; her great-grandchildren, Linley and Hardin Lucas; her two brothers, Don (Wannetta) Kinkade and Steve (Susie) Kinkade; and several special nieces and nephews, Daniel (Tony) Kinkade, Christina (Brad) Kinkade-Decker, Brandon Kinkade, Lauren (Troy) Hughes, and April (Nick) Spalding.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, (July 10, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
