Clara Bell Whitman Franklin, age 91, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Clarkson KY, passed away Wednesday, (April 20, 2016) at Signature Health Care of East Louisville.
She was born on March 25, 1925 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Claude Edward and Anna Maude Logsdon Whitman.
She was a housewife and homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, (she could make her famous biscuits and gravy in her sleep), gardening, flowers, and being with her grandchildren. She was a member of Sulphur Wells Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Ray (Kim) of Manteno, IL, Jerry Wayne (Karen) of Clarkson, and Randy Franklin (Cheryl) of Louisville, KY; three daughters, Christine Starke of Louisville, KY, Nancy Head (Chris) of Louisville, KY, and Elaine Easto (Charles) of Midway, GA; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Vanley Franklin; two children, Thomas "Tom" Lee Franklin and Mary Kathleen Franklin; two grandsons, Jason Franklin and Ronnie Grimes; one great-grandchild, Wyatt Grimes; and five brothers, Lewis, Owen, Milburn, Wesley, and Wavie Whitman; five sisters, Lucille Haycraft, Gladys Arbuckle, Ada Miller, Margie VanMeter, and Flossie Franklin.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (April 22, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Hank Gibson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Friday until time of services.
