Clara Lea Smithson, age 82, of Leitchfield, passed away Wednesday, (January 21, 2026) at her home in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on July 17, 1943, in Bakersfield, CA, the daughter of the late Arther Lee Davis and Clara Lea Beddo Davis.

She was a former cook at Head-Start, a job she had much compassion for. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and baking.

She is survived by her children, David Smithson (Janet) of Booneville, AR, Stacey Day of Leitchfield and Scott Smithson (Brandi) of Clarkson; grandchildren, Shawntina Smith of Clarkson, Deanya Melvin (Stephen) of Leitchfield, Walker Day (Jessica) of Leitchfield, Kacey Pennington (Jesse) of Millwood, Bethelene Eaves (Jessie) of Waldron, AR, Chris Weinmann (Tracy) of Washington, Dillion Smithson, Wyatt Smithson and Sydney Smithson all of Clarkson; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne Davis of California. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Troy Smithson, a sister Donna Wheeler, son-in-law, Jodie Markwell and a grandson -in-law, Bryon Smith.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen.
