Clarence Clayton Logsdon, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (June 22, 2013) after a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 13, 1932 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Dewey and Sylvia Haycraft Logsdon.
He was a graduate of Clarkson High School and Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, MO. He worked Civil Service for six years. During this time he served two years in the U.S. Army as a combat soldier (forward observer) in the Korean War. In his years of Civil Service he was in charge of federal purchasing, administration, and clerical supervision. He was retired after thirty-eight years in Refrigeration-Electrical-Electronics, as a specialist in field service, for General Electric Company. He is author of the book "Logsdon: The Amazing Family", the definitive book on the Logsdon genealogy.
He is survived by one son, Gary Vance Logsdon and wife Janice, of Leitchfield; three sisters, Mary Louise Lasley and Elsie Sapp, both of Leitchfield, and Roberta Brooks of Clarkson; three grandchildren, Shary Newton and husband Bryan, Farrah Logsdon, and Joseph Logsdon of Leitchfield; two great-grandchildren, William Thomas and Bryanna Mae Newton of Leitchfield.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Logsdon; five sisters, Sally Green, Ollie, Aline, Lorene, and Temple Logsdon; six brothers, Hubert, Herbert, Otto, Rev. Leo, Rev. James and Cletus Logsdon.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (June 26, 2013) at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Rev. Damon Lasley, Jr., Rev. Trevor Ray, and Rev. Joseph Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
