Obituary
Claudia Mercer Goode, age 88, of Leitchfield, passed away Saturday, (December 19, 2015) at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.
She was born on January 10, 1927 in Breckinridge County, KY, the daughter of the late Claude and Gertrude Storms Mercer.
She worked as a book-keeper for R.E. Hughes Lumber Company for over 40 years. She was the Grayson County treasurer for 10 years. She enjoyed sewing, sports, especially University of Louisville sports, playing tennis and softball, and loved to bowl. She loved her job with the Hughes Construction Company. She attended Leitchfield First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Horn (Rodney) of Leitchfield; three nieces, Nancy Ledford, Susan Roe, and Renee Brown.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Goode, two brothers, Curtis Mercer and Bill Mercer, sister, Reba Whitler, and niece, Sarah Wardrip.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, (December 21, 2015) at the Walnut Hills Cemetery. Bro. Fred Whitmore will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leitchfield First United Methodist Church, in her honor.
