Curtis Dewees, age 90, of Sao Paolo, Brazil (formerly of Kentucky), passed away Saturday, (November 6, 2021) at his home.
He was born on July 19, 1931 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Clarence and Lucille Young Dewees.
Curtis was a multi-published author and historian and loved Louisville's history and Brazil's culture. His family members had the pleasure of visiting him in his Brazilian home and sharing in his love of Brazil
He leaves behind several nieces and nephews including, two nephews, David Smith, his wife Kimberly Smith and Gerald O'Mera; three nieces, Diane Reinbold, her husband Russell Reinbold and their two daughters Victoria and Elizabeth, Patty Smith & Jackie Alexander; and a sister in law, Billie Dewees.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Carolyn Dewees Smith, Ann O'Meara, Gladys Barker and Jewell Smith; a brother, Shelby Curtis Dewees; three nephews, Kenny & Bobby Dewees and Jimmy O'Meara; and nieces, Karen Dewees and Doris Thomas.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. CDT Thursday, (November 18, 2021) at the Caneyville Cemetery in Caneyville with burial to follow.
