D. C. Foley, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (October 27, 2009) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

He was born on July 21, 1924, in Russell Springs, KY, the son of James Logan and Cordelia Cooper Foley. He was a retired printer at Courier Journal for 35 years and was a member of the Communication Workers of America, was a World War II veteran, serving under General Patton in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of Kosmosdale Baptist Church and under the watch care of the Short Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nell Gwynn Foley of Leitchfield, two sons, Ronald Dale of Georgia and Timothy Alan Foley of Louisville, two daughters, Marsha Kaye Foley and Sherry Lynn Harshfield (Dennis Earl) both of Louisville, KY, four step-sons, Rodney Dale Sanford (Linda) and Lester Ray Sanford (Lilly) both of Florida, David G. Bibee of Louisville and Darryl T. Bibee of Lexington, KY, one grandson, Mark Alan Foley of Virginia, one sister, Shirley Alice Richard of Georgia, two brothers, Ottis Ray Foley of Russell Springs, KY and J. L. Foley of Florida. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Newell, Marvin, and Edward Foley, Rosemary Aaron, Jewell Shaw, Stella Wilkerson and Edna White.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (November 1, 2009) at the Short Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Bros Jeff McMichael and Nathan Lowe will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunday and at the Church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
