Obituary
Delbert Carl Tomes Sr., age 84, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Friday, (May 28, 2010) at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on August 16, 1925, in Edmonson Co. KY, the son of George & Minnie Gilbert Tomes. He was a member of the Beech Grove United Baptist Church, and a member of the Pilgrim Lodge # 545.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Tomes of Caneyville, 1 son Carl Tomes Jr., Caneyville, 5 daughters Sandra Kay Goodman of Caneyville, Ava Rose Wright, Debra Wood & Mildred Sheila Veltman all of Louisville & Misty Sunshine Tomes of Bowling Green. 4 brothers Marion, Sherman & Bill Tomes all of Louisville & Sammy Tomes of Mt. Washington, 2 sisters Jewell Tomes of Leitchfield, & Goldie Woosley of Louisville, 8 granddaughters, 1 grandson & 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. (May 31, 2010) at Beech Grove United Baptist Church with Bro. Leland Childress & Bro. Jerry Vincent officiating with burial in the church Cemetery. Masonic services will be held Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. by the Pilgrim Lodge # 545 F & AM
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville from 11:00 – 9:00 P.M. Sunday, and after 10:00 Monday at Beech Grove Baptist Church until time of services.
