Delmer Jefferson Hester, age 91, of Louisville, KY, passed away Wednesday, (May 30, 2012) at his residence.
He was born on September 30, 1920, in Edmonson Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Jeff Hassett and Gertha Rigdon Hester.
He was retired from Dupont, a World War II Army veteran, and was a 55 year member of the Rockfordview United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wanda Byers Hester, four daughters, Joyce Cronen (Bobby), Joan Turner (Bill) and Jeanetta Bowling (Mike) all of Louisville and Janice Jackson (Buddy) of Shelbyville, KY, three sons, Glenn J and Floyd S Hester both of Louisville and Darrell Hester (Connie) of Shepherdsville, KY, one sister, Catherine Wade of Clarkson KY, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Opal, Jesse and Windred Hester, two sisters, Naomi Wade and Mary Harrison, one grandchild, Jeremy Hester and one step grandchild, Bryan Bowling.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, (June 2, 2012) at Rockfordview United Baptist Church, 2511 Wilkerson Ave, Louisville, KY. Bro. Melvin Strange will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Hill cemetery. Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway Louisville, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday and at Rockfordview United Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
