Dewey Brooks , age 88 of Welchs Creek , Ky. passed away Monday July 11, 2011 at Morgantown Health & Rehab.
He was born on August 10, 1922, the son of George Milligan & Leora Bell Embry Brooks. He was a US Army veteran of World War II in the 351 Infantry Engineers and a member of the Wilson Home General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Vivian Dockery Brooks, 1 daughter Joyce Tomes Brooks of Morgantown, three sons, Roger (Gayle) Brooks, of Welchs Creek, Royce Brooks of Morgantown & Kenneth Brooks of Welchs Creek, 1 brother Dave Bryant of Caneyville & 1 sister Stella Mode of Morgantown, 7 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 son Dewey Brooks Jr., 2 brother's & 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville, with Bro. Gary Embry officiating, with interment in the Chapel Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville, Tuesday from 4:00 until 9:00P.M. and 9:00 - Wednesday, until time of service.
