Obituary
Dora Tomes, age 98, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (January 4, 2014) at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.
She was born on April 11, 1915 in Caneyville, KY, the daughter of the late Azro and Lina Willis Geary.
She was a homemaker, who enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and canning. She was a charter member of Rabbit Flat General Baptist Church. She professed her faith at the age of fourteen.
She is survived by three daughters; Frances Tomes Decker of Leitchfield, KY, Kay Tomes Hegedus and her husband, John, and Nelda Tomes Daugherty, all of Louisville, KY: six grandchildren, Alice, Jennifer, Angie, Mike, Beth and Dwane; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tomes, and a brother, Daniel Geary.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12:00 noon at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Marty Cruze will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Fund.
