Dorothea "Dottie" Howard, age 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (October 24, 2007) in Louisville, KY.
She was born on October 12, 1921, in Green County KY, the daughter of Leland Macy and Beulah Catherine (Grimsley) Davenport. She was a retired Jefferson Co, KY school teacher, a former assistant buyer at Stewart's Department Store and worked in the lab at Dupont. She attended McDaniels Antioch United Methodist Church; a member of the KY Retired Teacher's System and was a former member of the Grayson County Homemakers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Howard, her parents, Leland and Beulah Davenport and her brother, Doye Davenport.
Dottie was a kind and generous person who was loved by everyone that met her. She had a great love for all animals.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jennie Davenport, sister-in-law, Nadene Howard, brother-in-law, Milton Howard, several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends and her "adopted" grandchildren who all loved her very much.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 27, 2007) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Ed Dermitt will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 12 noon Saturday until time of services.
