Dorothy May Bratcher Schmidt, age 82, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (September 29, 2016) at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY.
She was born on February 25, 1934 in Horse Branch, KY, the daughter of the late Ottis and Dessie Payton Bratcher.
She was a caregiver, who enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and crafting. She was a member of the Sunshine Homemakers Club and attended Clearview Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Richard "Dickie" Gaither (Susie Allen) of Fairdale, KY and Danny Gaither of Falls of Rough, KY; six grandchildren, Ray Thomas Gaither, Shannon Harp, Tracy King, John Elza Gaither, Pamela Renee Gaither, and Tonie Michelle Gaither; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Logsdon, Charley Ray Gaither, Brittnie Harp, GarRhett Stinnett; two great great-grandchildren, Ella Webb and Neveah Logsdon; a sister, Betty Wilkins (Roy); one special niece, Jenny Sturgeon, and several additional nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elza Dual Gaither; three brothers, Vernon, James and David Bratcher; a sister, Ruby Haynes; and two half-brothers, Arvin and Raymond Bratcher.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, (October 3, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
