Douglas Leon Minton , age 83 of Leitchfield, went Home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 3, 2021.  Mr. Minton was born January 5, 1938 to the late Herbert Elton Minton and Ella Irene Mudd Minton.  He professed his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and had a long-time membership at Greenwood Baptist Church.

Doug had a true servant's heart, doing a tour of duty in the US Army, stationed in Germany from 1962-1964.  He retired from the Louisville Fire Department Engine #8 in the early 1980's.  In twenty years with the department, he only missed two days of work.  He then served on the Leitchfield Police Department for several years, and was named Officer of the Year in 1990.

Doug made people smile and laugh with a funny story, was always cheerful and smiling, and he never met a stranger.  He enjoyed gardening and watching the birds he fed daily.  He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his bride of 61 years, Regina (Wilson) Minton, two children, Karen (Stephen) Sadler of Leitchfield, and Greg (Judy) Minton of Jensen Beach, Florida.  One granddaughter who he adored, Jennifer (James) Hare of Elizabethtown, and two great-grandchildren who were his joy, Taylor and Abigail.  He is also survived by two sisters, Clyda (Robert) Kirtley and Charlene Dameron of Leitchfield, and a special brother, Bob (Carol) Minton of Horse Branch.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

He will be missed by those who knew and loved him, until we meet again.  It's not "Goodbye", it's "See you later."  Honoring Doug's wishes, there will be no public visitation.  A private graveside service will be held.
