Earnest Sandlin, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (September 28, 2013) at Springview Health and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on July 13, 1928 in Hazard, KY, the son of the late Plesent "Ples" and Geneva Crain Sandlin.

He was a retired farmer, timber cutter, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Willadean Sandlin, 4 sons; Aubrey Sandlin (Sandra) of St. Paul, KY; Velzie Sandlin (Heather), Hobey Sandlin (Joann), and Leland Sandlin (Tammy) all of Leitchfield, 5 daughters; Geneva Odell King and Gladys Whobrey (Carl) both of Leitchfield, Nedra Sandlin and Marcella Ndiaye (Galass) of Radcliff, KY Alain Sandlin of Leitchfield, 3 step daughters; Cora Nugent (Johnny), Elizabeth Clements (David) both of Leitchfield, and Hazel Higgs (Randy) of Hudson, KY, 40 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 6 Brothers; Charles Sandlin (Bernice) of Leitchfield, Prentice Sandlin of Clarkson, Wendell Sandlin (Zella) of Eastview, Ovie Willford Sandlin (Diane) of Big Clifty, KY, Roger Sandlin (Lilly) of Mt. Washington, KY, Kenneth Ray Sandlin (Mary) of Sealy, TX, 4 sisters; Charlene Lasley of Louisville, KY, Eloise Jarboe (Sherwood), Cleddie Lindsey (Charles), and Lillie May Ausbon (Murel) all of Leitchfield.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cuba Logsdon Sandlin, a daughter; Annabelle Decker, 3 brothers; Herman, J.B. and James Sandlin and a sister, Nelline Warren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (October 2, 2013) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Edward Cockriel will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
