Edward Earl Self, age 92 , of Tar Hill, KY, passed away Tuesday, (May 16, 2023) at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was born on March 26, 1931 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late George and Nora Burkhead Self.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Edward worked as a carpenter for most of his life, and as a mold cleaner for EMB Corporation. He enjoyed mowing his yard, wood working, restoring tractors, playing guitar and gardening. He was a member of the Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Thelma Milliner Self of Tar Hill; two daughters, Tammy Self Langdon (Mike) & Mimi Self Stinson (Roger) both of Leitchfield; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Howard Self of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, Brad Stinson (Lizabeth), Sara Cooper (Chad), Amy Hatfield & Shannon Roberts; four great-grandchildren, Blake Aubrey (Vanda), Bailey Swift (Holly), Emma Kate Cooper & Eli Cooper; and five great-great-grandchildren, Kenley, Anthony, Hollis, Braxton & Gracie . Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Self, grandson, Ryan Dale Stinson, and four sisters, Mary Watkins, Dorothy Raymer, Georgie Portman and Katherine Self.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (May 22, 2023) at the Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church in Mt. Hebron, KY. Bro. Jimmy Douthitt will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and will move to Mt. Hebron Gospel Mission Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
