Edward Ray (Sonny) Johnson, age 69, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (June 12, 2009) at his residence.

He was born on October 9, 1939 in Grayson County KY, the son of Charles Edward and Irma Grace (Kinkade) Johnson. He was a fork truck operator at Ford Motor Company, and a deacon of the Providence General Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 236, and the Kosair Shriners.

He is survived by his wife Mary, two sons, Chuck (Ilsa) Johnson, and Bryan James, two daughters, Michelle (JD) Shoemaker, and Rae Johnson, all of Leitchfield, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters, JoAnn Pence of Eastview, and Norma Ragland of Leitchfield. He is also survived by a special uncle and aunt, Bob and Anna Rea Kinkade. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Martha White.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. (June 15, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Larry Johnson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.

Masonic services will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.
