Edwin Reece Hatfield, age 99, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (September 5, 2014) at his residence.
He was born on February 6, 1915 in Clarkson, KY, the son of the late Gilbert Duncan and Frankie Hart Hatfield.
He retired as President from Leitchfield Deposit Bank. He was a KY Colonel, a former member of the Grayson County Hospital Board of Directors, Grayson County Rural Development Commission, and WRECC Board of Directors. He graduated from Clarkson High School in 1932, and was a member of the CHS Alumni Association. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and fishing. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Leitchfield Christian Church, where he served as an Elder for over 50 years. He was married to his late wife, Ruelma Mae Green Hatfield, on September 23, 1943.
He is survived by one son, David Hatfield, and his wife, Karen of Leitchfield; one daughter, Rae Carol Hatfield Yarbrough of Nashville TN; three grandchildren, Eveleigh Rae Hatfield Stewart, and her husband Tony, of Piney Flats, TN, Holly Hatfield of Charleston, SC, and Tyler Yarbrough of Louisville; one great-granddaughter, Raeleigh Elizabeth Stewart; and one sister, Imogene Redmon of Plantation, FL.
Other than his parents, Gilbert Duncan and Frankie Hart Hatfield, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruelma Mae Green Hatfield; grandson, Trevor Eugene Yarbrough; brother, James Ray Hatfield; and sister, Betty Oliver.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (September 9, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Lee Schroerlucke will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
