Effie A. Clemons, age 70, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Tuesday, (January 6, 2015) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on July 21, 1944 in Grayson Co., KY, the daughter of the late Oval and Elizabeth Alvey.

She was a factory worker from Campbell Hausfeld, who enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Sammie Clemons, three sons, Walter Sandlin (Gaye) of Millwood, KY, Joseph Sandlin (Paula) of Leitchfield, David Sandlin (Tracy Gibson) of Caneyville, three grandchildren, DaLeisa Miller (James) Joshua Sandlin, and Brittany Sandlin (Aaron), four great grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Miller, Timathios Sandlin, Carson Puckett, six sisters Catherine Chambers (John) and Geneva Higdon both of Shelbyville, IN, Helen Clemons (Lester) of Louisville, KY, Lillie Sandlin (Roger) of Mt. Washington, KY, Wilma Watson (Bob) of Cookeville, TN, Mary VanMeter (Jeff) of Clarkson, KY, a brother Ernie Alvey and a special friend Carol Rigdon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Norman Lee Sandlin, two brothers Pete Alvey and Virgil Lush, two sisters Aliene Strader and Nettie Reed, and an infant sister Rosalee Alvey.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (January 10, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Father Tony Bickett will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday (January 9, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home.
