Elmer Nelson, age 75, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (August 13, 2007) at the Norton's Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born on April 15, 1932 in Grayson Co., KY, the son of Vernie and Agnes Bowman Nelson. He was a retired United States Army Command Sergeant Major, a veteran of the Korean and the Vietnam Conflicts, he was a farmer and a former member of the Grayson County Cattleman's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Lampton Nelson, two sons, Larry Gene of Elizabethtown, KY and Douglas Edward Nelson of Independence, KY, two daughters, Catherine Ann Johnson of Leitchfield and Patricia Kay Wilson of Caneyville, KY, two step-children, Patty Decker of Leitchfield and Junior Hudson of Falls of Rough, KY, also surviving are fourteen brothers and sisters, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleora Mae Nelson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday (August 17, 2007) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bros. Tim Menser and Andy Vance will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Veteran's Cemetery in Radcliff, KY.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
